Gas Laws ---------- Dalton's law: Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures states that the total pressure of a mixture of nonreacting gases is the sum of their individual partial pressures. PT = P1 + P2 + P3 + ... Boyle's Law: P ∝ 1/V for contant T and amount of gas. ∴ P1V1 = k = P2V2 Charles' Law: V ∝ T for constant P and amount of gas. ∴ V/T = k V1/T1 = k = V2/T2 Gay-Lussac's Law: P ∝ T for constant V and amount of gas. ∴ P/T = k P1/T1 = k = P2/T2 Avogadro's Law: V ∝ n n is measured in moles for constant T and P. ∴ V/n = k V1/n1 = k = V2/n2 The Combined (Universal) Gas Law: The combination of the above laws yields: P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2 for a constant amount of gas.
